1991 live concert from the legendary rock band Nirvana. Nirvana shot to stardom in the early 1990s with the release of their seminal album ‘Nevermind’. Hailing from a small town outside Seattle and led by the talented but fragile Kurt Cobain, the album was a surprise success and spawned numerous offshoots and a whole new movement known as ‘grunge’. The band were never entirely comfortable with this label or their mainstream success in general and disbanded in 1994 after Cobain’s suicide. This release captures them at their peak, playing a hometown show at Seattle’s Paramount Theatre on the back of the ‘Nevermind’ tour.

The first sounds Lynn Harper ever made probably saved her life. Found abandoned in a Berkeley, California dumpster, her voice brought rescuers and adoption into a loving home where she was raised by two people, one white and Jewish, one black and Baptist. Among her adopted relatives was the Brazilian super-star, Carmen Miranda, who died before she could finish teaching Lynn the samba.

At an early age Lynn learned about the value of communication as a movie actress that launched a recurring role on the television series, My Three Sons. Her musical talents as a Country Western singer steered a nomination as “Most Promising” by the Academy of Country and Western Music.

To say that Nirvana’s third and ultimately final studio album In Utero was 1993’s most polarizing record would be the understatement of a decade. Neville O’Riley Livingston OM OJ (10 April 1947 – 2 March 2021), known professionally as Bunny Wailer, was a Jamaican singer-songwriter and percussionist. Johannes Enders is probably one of the most productive and experimental tenor saxophonists of his generation, far beyond the borders of Germany. The 2-meter man from Weilheim, who studied in Munich, Graz and New York, is an active creative spirit whose immense artistic output is full of surprises. For this he has been awarded numerous prizes in recent years, including the Cultural Promotion Prize of the City of Munich, the SWR Jazz Prize, the New German Jazz Prize, the German Music Authors’ Prize and the Echo Jazz.

Pianist and organist Renato Chicco, born in 1962, studied at the University of Music in Graz, Austria, and at Berklee College of Music in Boston. While living in New York City (1990 -1998) he was a member of the Lionel Hampton Orchestra (1991-1992) and pianist and musical director with Jon Hendricks & Company (1991-1997). Being active on the New York scene during that time, aside from playing in clubs like the Blue Note, Birdland and the Village Gate, he took part of radio and TV shows (with Lionel Hampton and Jon Hendricks), performed in festivals and clubs all over the United States, Europe, Asia and South America. Renato also performed with Lou Donaldson, Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard, Clark Terry, Benny Golson, Red Holloway, Al Grey, Joe Williams, Wynton Marsalis, Gary Burton, Milt Hinton, Reggie Workman, Jerry Bergonzi, Steve Grossman, Al Foster and many others.

Jorge Rossy is internationally recognised as one of the most influential drummers of his generation. His sideman work includes over 180 recordings with renowned jazz musicians such as Brad Mehldau, Ethan Iverson, Kevin Hays, Albert Sanz, Mark Turner, Chris Cheek, Seamus Blake, Joshua Redman, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jakob Bro, Enrico Pieranunzi and Steve Swallow, among many others. Jorge has also toured with some jazz greats including Charlie Haden, Wayne Shorter, Lee Konitz, Carla Bley, and Joe Lovano.

The album Interlocari by the Ivan Kapec Quintet is inspired by Johannes Kepler’s astronomical work Mysterium Cosmographicum, first published in 1596. In this work, Kepler discusses the proportional relationships between the orbits of planets within the heliocentric system. Kepler’s theory is based on regular geometric polyhedra, which are placed (interlocari) between the orbits of planets, creating mathematically defined relationships that describe the solar system, as Kepler succinctly explains in his work.”Earth is the circle, the measure of all things. Around it, describe a dodecahedron: the circle surrounding it will be Mars. Around Mars, describe a tetrahedron: the circle surrounding it will be Jupiter. Around Jupiter, describe a cube: the circle surrounding it will be Saturn. Around Earth, inscribe an icosahedron: the circle surrounding it will be Venus. Around Venus, inscribe an octahedron: the circle surrounding it will be Mercury. Thus, you have the ratio of the number of planets.” (Mysterium Cosmographicum, 1596.)

Kapec has translated these ratios into jazz compositions, exploring how these proportional relationships can shape musical structures.

In Interlocari, Kapec uses Kepler’s mathematical ratios and the structures of polyhedra to create complex musical compositions in a jazz format. The numbers of beats, harmonic rhythms, and metric organization of the pieces are directly connected to Kepler’s ideas about the proportions of the universe, creating a unique connection between musical and scientific thought.

The album’s title, Interlocari, derives from the Latin word meaning “to place between,” referring to the polyhedra positioned between planetary orbits according to Kepler’s concept.

The album cover features Kepler’s autograph letter to his teacher Michael Maestlin, in which he explains his revolutionary ideas about the geometry of the universe, expressed through polyhedra.

The complete 6 English Suites by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), played on the lute-harpsichord by Wolfgang Rübsam. There is little “English” about these suites. Their name might have been given as a tribute to Charles Diepart, whose 6 English Suites were very popular at the time. Bach’s English Suites follow the traditional sequence of dance movements of the Suite. The writing is mature and technically demanding. The English Suites, along with the French Suites and Partitas, are part of the standard keyboard repertoire. Wolfgang Rübsam is internationally known as an authoritative Bach interpreter, from is played on a lute-harpsichord, an instrument that Bach would have had at home for both music-making in the family and for teaching. The touch required and the sonori- ty produced is delicate, subtly shaded and closely related in its effect to the music of Bach’s French contemporaries, whose music he knew well, such as François Couperin, Jean-Philippe Rameau and Louis Marchand. The sound is warmer, as it has gut strings and no dampers. “These lovely performances memorably showcase Rübsam’s sensitive and poetic side. Recommended. The late 1960s/1970 Peter Green era of Fleetwood Mac is deservedly legendary and the era that began in 1975, with the addition of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, is by far the most commercially successful era, but the time period between the two is often neglected in terms of recognition. Admittedly, this era was full of personnel changes and certainly a transitional time in the long history of the band, but they were still creating new, fresh and vibrant music. This December 1974 Record Plant recording, the band’s second appearance that year, captures the lineup fronted by Bob Welch and Christine McVie, performing some of their finest material of that era, along with several tributes to the departed original leader of the band, Peter Green.At the time, the group’s previous management had a bogus Fleetwood Mac out on the road and the band was not only competing with the glory of a previous lineup, they were also battling to make it clear that they were indeed the real Fleetwood Mac. Hence Tom Donohue’s introduction where he says, “They have had imitators. They’ve had even forgeries, but this is the real Fleetwood Mac.”

The band launches directly into one of Peter Green’s heaviest songs, “Green Manalishi.” While not as intense or lengthy as Green and Kirwin’s dense explorations on this number, Bob Welch does a respectable job as the sole lead guitarist, and the unique drive of John McVie and Mick Fleetwood’s rhythm section, which often propelled this song, is still fully intact. This warm-up exercise gets the group pumped up for the material that defined the era.

The set then alternates between the best of Bob Welch’s and Christine McVie’s recent contributions to the band. Welch supplies “Angel,” a lengthy excursion into “Bermuda Triangle,” as well as the FM radio staple, “Sentimental Lady,” which morphs directly into a superb rendition of “Future Games.” The latter is an overlooked classic and this performance contains an extended monologue in the middle, where Welch explains the genesis of this captivating number. “Future Games” is certainly one of the high points of this set and this era of the band. Christine McVie contributes her infectious “Spare Me A Little” and lovely takes on “Why” and “Believe Me,” three of her most memorable songs from this time period. Her voice is in fine form not only on her own numbers, but in conjunction with Welch on some of his numbers, where she provides harmony or counterpoint vocals.

Later in the set they return to honoring their founder, Peter Green, with a lengthy tribute jam containing three of his classics; “Black Magic Woman,” “Oh Well” and Green’s anthem to masturbation, “Rattlesnake Shake.” The set ends with an arrangement of one of Welch’s finest contributions, “Hypnotized,” the highlight of the previous year’s Mystery To Me album. Beginning with a unique guitar intro sequence not included on the recording, this is a dreamy, mesmerizing performance.

This is a fine performance and one of the last existing live documents of Fleetwood Mac with Welch on board. Like Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwin before him, Welch too would soon depart to pursue a solo career, leaving the band in search of another frontman/guitar player and the opportunity to again redefine their sound. Little did they know what astronomical success lay in store for them.

Patrick Naylor has performed extensively as a guitarist and bandleader. He has released 3 critically acclaimed albums of original compositions and completed numerous Jazz Services tours of the UK. Patrick’s debut album was CD of the week in the London Evening Standard, and his 2003 album, Afternoon Moon, was in Chrissie Murray’s CD’s of the year. His latest CD, Days of Blue, was included in the Daily Telegraph Best CDs of 2015.Patrick has recorded or played live with a number of different artists including Soundial, Viper’s Dream, Sara Mitra, David Beebee’s Gaya, Julian Costello, Ian East, Eddie Parker, Kate Dimbleby, Firefly, Julie Mckee, Tim Giles, Orla Murphy, Julie Walkington, Julie Sassoon, Stephanie O’Brien, Ben Walker. Lizzie Ball, Fulvio Sigurta, Una Palliser, Natalie Rozario, Maciek Pysz and many others.

Patrick has worked extensively as a session musician and has recorded a number of pieces for film, TV and radio including: 2 series of Maigret for BBC Radio 4 and a number of feature films and TV programmes with composer Daniel Teper including Things to do Before You’re 30 – a major feature film starring Billie Piper and Jimi Mistry – and many TV Programmes and adverts. He has won praise from many critics including at Jazzwise, The London Evening Standard, BBC Music Magazine, Jazz Journal Musician Magazine and Time Out. His educational work includes running guitar classes and workshops and teaching guitar at St Pauls Cathedral School.

A unique take on Mozart’s music from the organ loft. Mozart wrote sparingly for the solo organ – a relatively early collection of short Epistle Sonatas for liturgical use, and later on a few more individual pieces for a new mechanical organ. In neither case was he using the full extent of a large instrument as exploited by his Baroque predecessors. At the same time, Mozart himself was no stranger to the organ loft; he would have been regularly playing the instrument at St Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna had his plans come to fruition and he had lived long enough to attain the post of Director of Music there. Manuel Tomadin has imaginatively filled in this gap in the Mozart catalogue, as it were, with his own transcriptions of pieces particularly well suited to the soundworld of the organ. The A minor Sonata K310 shares a surging, Sturm und Drang sensibility with the two fantasias, in C minor and D minor. In turn this character lends itself to the Gothic grandeur of the ‘king of instruments’, when sensitively registered and nimbly executed. The coloristic possibilities of the organ, it’s dynamic range and effects of perspective, are also put to dramatic use in bringing to life two of Mozart’s opera overtures, from Cosi fan tutte and Die Zauberflote. Tomadin does not neglect the roots of Mozart’s music in the Baroque, with a transcription of the rococo G major sonata K283 which he wrote at the age of 18, plus a much less familiar Preludio and Capriccio in C K394. In both of these pieces, Mozart was drawing on the legacy of CPE Bach, who had given him lessons as a child – a period to which Tomadin pays tribute with another rarity, one of the ‘London Sketches’ preserved in notebook form from the family’s stay in the English capital. Tomadin has chosen an original and historically appropriate instrument for this fascinating exploration of Mozart on the organ, built in the late 1780s by the Montesanti firm for the parish church of Governolo in the province of Lombardy. The booklet includes a full specification of the organ, plus Tomadin’s own introduction to the repertoire and his approach to it as a transcriber and performer. – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) had a profound connection with the church organ, an instrument that played a significant role in his musical development.

Cursed is the third studio album by Swiss deathcore band Paleface Swiss, released on January 3, 2025 through Blood Blast Distribution. It is the band’s first album to feature drummer Cassiano Toma, and the band’s first album to be released under the name ‘Paleface Swiss’ as the band had to rename due to there being another artist under the name of ‘Paleface’. The first single titled “Hatred” was released on September 26, 2024.[3] It was then followed by two more singles titled “My Blood on Your Hands” and “Love Burns” which were released on November 7, 2024 and December 4, 2024 respectively.The album was named as one of the most anticipated metal albums of 2025 by Loudwire.

Giorgia Tomassi started her piano studies with her mother at the age of 7, whereafter she was taught by Anna Maria Pennella. After graduating at the age of 15 with the highest honors, she furthered her artistic maturity at the Imola Piano Academy under the guidance of Franco Scala, Lazar Berman, Boris Petrushansky and Alexander Lonquich. From there she went on to win the 1st prize in the prestigious Arthur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv in 1992. Giorgia has performed in major Italian and international halls and partnered with prestigious musicians such as Martha Argerich, Salvatore Accardo, Gabriele Pieranunzi, Geza Hossu Legocky, Michele Battista, Roberto Cominati and the Ensemble Wien-Berlin amongst others. She recorded Chopin’s Etudes and Nino Rota’s Piano Concertos with the Filarmonica della Scala, conducted by Riccardo Muti, for the EMI label. Since 2010 she has established a permanent artistic partnership with pianists Carlo Maria Griguoli and Alessandro Stella – The PianoS Trio – focusing on the interpretation of masterpieces of symphonic literature, transcribed for three pianos by Carlo Maria Griguoli and which featured in all editions of the “Martha Argerich Project.” They regularly appear in the concert season of the most prestigious concert venues in Italy and abroad. Warner Classics has released a CD which includes all the pieces performed by The Pianos Trio at the Martha Argerich Project from 2010 to 2013. Giorgia regularly performs with her piano duo partner, Carlo Maria Griguoli, with whom she recently recorded music for two pianos by Sergei Rachmaninov in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Russian composer’s birth. The recording includes original works, as well as transcriptions by Griguoli, and has been released under the OnClassical label. She is a professor at the Frosinone Conservatory of Music in Italy where she teaches piano.
