When Boyscott’s principal songwriter Scott Hermo Jr. wrote and recorded his debut album Goose Bumps, he wasn’t actually aware that he was writing a record. “It was truly just a fun process of creativity experiments and first-thought-best-thought mentality,” remembers Hermo. The album, originally released in 2015, introduced Boyscott’s unique spin on breezy surf-inspired indie pop, and jumpstarted a tour-heavy career that would persist nearly a decade before new music would be released.

The primordial wisps of Spellbound, the sophomore album from Boyscott, emerged around the same time as Goose Bumps. Since his initial release and foray into regular touring, Hermo spent the intervening nine years writing, demoing, recording, and in most cases re-recording the songs that would come to form Spellbound.

The Leipzig based quartet Pauline Réage charges into fresh ground, armed with raw energy and a voice that sings in multitudes. Réage is just one letter away from Rage. Passion, unrestraint and a socially critical agenda are at play here, often following philosophical rather than musical instructions while asserting their place in jazz. “In the current social context, jazz remains a powerful tool for driving change. We just need to hold it accountable,” proclaims Munka, who named the quartet after the pseudonym of French writer Anne Desclos, whose work “The Story of O” continues to challenge normative gender roles.Anne Munka, singer and initiator of the project, describes their music as “dramatic, empathetic, and lyrical” a reflection of her own artistic evolution. Just a few years ago, she was primarily engaged in literature, sound art, and radio drama. Collaborations with artists like Marcel Beyer, Rabih Lahoud, Nora Gomringer, and Günther “Baby” Sommer have not only given her a broad artistic basis, but also laid the foundation for her jazz quartet Pauline Réage.

Founded in 2018, the Dream House Quartet is bringing classical and contemporary music into completely new forms as a matter of course. The members can draw on decades of musical expertise: the two piano sisters Katia and Marielle Labèque – one of the most renowned piano duet who have never confined themselves to a single genre – are joined by Grammy-winning guitarist, composer and founding member of The National Bryce Dessner and composer, musician and producer David Chalmin, also on guitar. Together they perform radical commissions from visionary composers and key contemporary works from the past half century. After their self-titled digital EP released in 2023, the quartet now presents a brand-new album to coincide with their tour in November 2024. Entitled Sonic Wires, the album features works by Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Bryce Dessner, David Chalmin, Sufjan Stevens, Caroline Shaw, Timo Andres, David Lang and Anna Thorvaldsdottir.

The great Italian legend of the piano Maurizio Pollini sadly passed-away earlier this year, on 23rd March 2024. This album recorded together with his son Daniele, is dedicated to three different aspects of Schubert’s piano oeuvre covering: the sonatas, the collections of short pieces, and music for four hands. The first time that both musicians performed a piano work for four hands: Schubert’s great F minor Fantasy. The release is accompanied by a 16-page booklet with an essay by Maurizio Pollini’s long-time companion Paolo Petazzi. “Schubert was certainly one of my father’s most beloved composers.
